a little letter
hiii guyssss! how are yall doing? i just wanted to write a blog post that reflects on how far all of us have gotten. i know many of yall have just started living, being only in your teens. (if not, this is still meaningful.) i know we feel like we have so much of our life left to live, but i think in this moment, you should stop, take a breath, and look back at how far you’ve gotten. your accomplishments, regrets, but most of all, how incredible it is that you are standing here today, getting to experience so many incredible things. getting to be loved. getting to see how the world evolves.
these are the things i would want to tell myself, even if it’s just a few months ago “younger self”, like a letter to my younger self. i know most of the things in this are things i’m still living right now, but i’m writing this as a reminder to myself too, that its ok to breathe a little, in this harsh, overwhelming, and seemingly despairing world.
first, pause. i know you are probably busy, younger me, with all the crazy things you used to do. it still makes me chuckle. but take a moment, sit down and listen. forget your worries, and breathe. look at how far you’ve gotten! you’ve managed to get into a good middle school, and you’ve made some great friends! but thats the bigger things. some of the smaller are also accomplishments.
remember that drawing you made last week. it wasn’t perfect, but you’re improving. and thats what matters. you may never be van gogh, but you’ll always make someone smile with your artwork.
remember how that other day you fell in the mud. it got everywhere. but thats part of living. it was quite refreshing, wasn’t it? or when you fell into the pool. that definitely put a smile on your face.
remember that fight you got into with your mom? was it really worth it, or were you mentally exhausted. did you really need to yell that at her? but don’t think about it too much. think about how you can be better.
remember that other day when everyone was playing concentration together? it was such a joyful moment, everyone together, laughing, joking… smiling. and when you forced your parents to play it with you even when they were annoyed.
remember those evenings with people you love, with happiness floating through the air?
remember those sad times, when you were able to overcome yourself and come to the point where you are today.
remember the things that made you smile as nostalgia flowed back to you.
remember how much your childhood can mean to you.
so don’t push yourself too much. think of all the things thats brought you to where you are. and how you can further those memories. when you graduate from high school and look back, you won’t want the memories to be just work, work, stress, and sadness. those moments of glee as joy flowed through you are what bring people to life. it’s what matters.
and these moments may have not been the same for everyone. you may be in shambles right now, but think of all you’ve gotten through to get here. and think of all the people that love you. i know our situations may be completely different, and this all may be irrelevant to you, but think of how the people on this world are evolving to accept more and more love into our community. maybe it’ll make you smile.
anyways, byeeee! i hope you enjoyed my official 3rd blog post ever!
